Diverse life trajectories are incorporated into brokerage… Remax Myeongdang, CEO Eunyoung Choi

Various life trajectories are incorporated into mediation…A word to those starting out in the brokerage business

Land, factories, commercial properties, buildings. CEO Choi Eun-young's brokerage history is difficult to categorize into a specific field. She's experienced a wide range of transactions and fields, with almost every aspect covered. These experiences are less a list of experiences on a resume and more the result of a person's life, layered upon layer. It's not the specific field she's worked in, but the countless moments of choice she's faced that defines who she is today.

Meeting CEO Choi in person, you sense a difference from the common image of a "powerful broker." His speech is soft and his demeanor is relaxed. He's not impatient in conversation, preferring to listen to the other person's story until the very end. However, his judgment isn't clouded. When decisions need to be made, he sets clear standards and is firm when necessary. His gentle yet confident, quiet yet firm demeanor naturally fosters trust.

His career in real estate wasn't simple either. He worked at a national research institute, ran an essay writing academy, and even opened a dessert cafe. While their paths may seem completely different, CEO Choi says all those years were ultimately training in understanding people and their choices. The process of persuading people, waiting, and taking responsibility were similar across industries, and the ability to interpret the concerns and judgments of clients he encounters in real estate brokerage settings was already being developed during those years.

After leaving the national research institute, CEO Choi headed to Gangnam. Working as an agent at a brokerage firm specializing in building transactions, he gained firsthand experience with the transactions involving assets worth hundreds of billions of won. While he assumed larger assets would lead to more ruthless transactions, the reality proved otherwise. As the weight of decisions grew, his concerns deepened. Through this process, he came to realize that real estate isn't about numbers, but ultimately about people and the direction of the business.

After raising a child and earning his real estate agent license, CEO Choi began running a local real estate business. The reality proved harsher than expected. Training people proved particularly challenging. New agents struggled to find their footing, and even experienced agents, each with their own established methods, proved difficult to train. Real estate brokerage wasn't something that could be mastered in a day or two; growth was impossible without consistent training and repetitive on-the-job experience. This experience led him to recognize that real estate brokerage couldn't be achieved solely through individual skill; it required systems and collaboration.

At that point, CEO Choi's attention turned back to Remax. He saw a systematic training system, a differentiated organizational structure, and a brokerage approach that focused on teams rather than individuals. He believed that adding the Remax system to his practical operational experience in local real estate could be the solution. Thus, Remax Myeongdang opened on May 18, 2023, focusing on commercial real estate brokerage, centered in Yongin.

Time hasn't flown by since opening. There was a clear difference between the local real estate landscape and Remax's philosophy, and bridging that gap involved considerable trial and error. For a while, it felt like I was walking in a fog, with no clear direction. Despite this, I never lowered my standards, and my principle as a broker, reading the market and suggesting directions, remained steadfast.

Remax's brokerage goes beyond simply connecting properties. We analyze the characteristics and location of each industry, focusing on commercial properties, land, and buildings, and even consider the type of business a client might pursue in that space. Questions like, "What space does this client truly need?" and "What signals that this commercial district is moving to the next level?" are constantly recurring within the team. On-site inspections, data monitoring, and staying abreast of market changes have become a daily routine.

Changes emerged gradually. The organization began to work in sync, information was shared within the team, and strategies were developed collaboratively. The structure in which each agent collaborated across industries and regions, rather than focusing on individual properties, led to quick decisions and accurate proposals. It took about two and a half years for Myeongdang to reach its current status. It was a slow but solid process.

In the past, there was a case where a wealthy individual residing abroad entrusted approximately 50 billion won worth of assets to CEO Choi, based on his trust in him and the Remax brand. This was a rare transaction in the Gyeonggi Province area, including Yongin. CEO Choi's practical explanations, derived from his own investment and judgment experience, built trust without exaggeration.

CEO Choi's brokerage is free from stubbornness. Instead, it's grounded in rationality and balance. His experience managing finances, investing, and working in various fields has, knowingly or unknowingly, built confidence and inner strength. This sense of balance stems from the experience he's accumulated through making countless choices.

CEO Choi isn't yet convinced of his success. However, he says it's clear that his diverse life experiences and countless transactions have shaped him. And those experiences are no longer his to keep, but rather an asset to be passed on to the organization and junior agents.

Ultimately, being a broker is a job best suited to those who have experienced a lot of experience. I hope this article offers a small measure of courage and direction to those facing a new beginning. Eunyoung Choi, who has navigated various life paths, embodies this experience in her brokerage work. Therefore, her brokerage goes beyond transactions and builds trust.
