Recently, a series of fraud cases using the name of the global real estate franchise REMAX have occurred, requiring special caution from consumers.

According to victims' testimonies, some scammers would post real estate listings on secondhand trading platforms, then present fake business cards bearing the Remax logo, posing as legitimate real estate agents. They would gain trust through professional tone and convincing documentation, then collect deposits or down payments and then disappear.

Remax is the world's leading real estate franchise, with over 145,000 agents operating in over 110 countries. With the rise of fraudulent activity exploiting Remax's reputation as a trusted brand, inquiries seeking to verify the authenticity of its agents are increasing significantly. All authorized Remax agents have a unique Agent ID registered in the company's database, and anyone can verify their affiliation through the official website.

The verification method is simple.

First, go to the Remax Korea listing page. (www.remax.co.kr)

Second, click ‘Find Agent’ in the menu at the top of the screen.

Third, search by entering the name of the broker you are dealing with.

By going through this process, you can verify in just 10 seconds whether the broker is actually affiliated with Remax.

The most reliable method is to call the broker's office directly to confirm their employment status. Experts advise that even a few minutes of verification before a transaction can prevent losses.

Experts recommend immediately halting transactions and reporting any instances where the account holder is in a different name, pressures you to make a deposit, or is reluctant to visit the office. Deposit details and conversation logs should be kept as evidence.

Remax Korea emphasized, “We will continue to strengthen our agent verification system so that consumers can conduct real estate transactions with confidence,” and “The best preventative measure is to always make it a habit to check the affiliation of an agent before making a transaction.”
