Money Today held the '2022 8th Korea Good Company Awards' on the 2nd. An awards ceremony was held to select so-called ‘good companies’ in each industry. The criteria for a ‘good company’ were broadly applied. The category of 'good companies' includes companies that practice ESG (environmental, social, and governance) management, companies that strive for employee welfare, companies that take the lead in social contribution activities, and startups that are recording high growth rates. .
This year's 'Good Company Awards' included a large number of companies in the fields of AI (artificial intelligence), convergence technology, and healthcare. It is interpreted that the industrial trend following the non-face-to-face trend that has been going on for several years has continued this year as well. What is particularly notable about this awards ceremony is the proportion of awards. Looking at the most awarded awards, they are the 'Good-R&D Award', the Good-Start·up Award, and the Good-Platform Award. This is analyzed to reflect the recent state of the domestic industry. This is in line with the current situation, where startups are more active than ever and active investment and research are underway based on their own technological capabilities.
Lee Jong-seop, a professor at Dongguk University who was in charge of judging the 'Good Company Awards', said, "I once again feel that the evaluation of 'good companies' has changed a lot from before," adding, "In the past, it was proportional to the total assets, but that is no longer the case." He added, “The reason why the companies you want to work for do not follow the business rankings is because factors other than salary, such as corporate culture and welfare, have played a role,” adding, “The company’s growth potential and vision have now become important factors.”
In his greeting, Park Jong-myeon, CEO of Money Today, said, "Looking back at the current situation, we are experiencing an era of uncertainty and confusion. We are experiencing a post-corona period of great transformation along with a complex economic crisis such as high exchange rate, high inflation, and high interest rates." . He added, “However, some in the small and medium-sized business industry are trying to interpret the high won-dollar exchange rate as a positive signal rather than a crisis.” He added, “The argument is that our small and medium-sized businesses can increase their self-sufficiency by using it as an opportunity to domestically produce technologies that are dependent on foreign countries.” .
CEO Park also said, “At moments of crisis, economic and industrial changes occur along with social and cultural changes,” and added, “I hope that the companies that emerge from the crisis and attract the world’s attention will be the winners of the Good Company Awards here.” .
