Breaking the Walls of the Closed Brokerage Market and Setting Global Standards
Real Estate Experiences in Australia and the Reality in Korea

During my college years, I studied real estate in Australia and worked as a real estate agent there, experiencing the dynamics of the market. At the time, I saw the global real estate market as a "knowledge industry" where professionals were respected and operated under a transparent system. However, upon returning to Korea, I encountered a very different reality in the real estate industry. While other industries were experiencing remarkable growth, I couldn't help but feel that the real estate brokerage industry remained stuck in a closed and small-scale structure.
A huge change in the market witnessed on the spot
As a franchisee at Remax Korea headquarters, I've provided close support to numerous CEOs and agents. The winds of change I've felt on the ground are stronger than I expected. The old "Bokdeukbang" style of operation is losing its footing.
Today, clients are seeking trustworthy, large-scale brokerage firms, and market share is rapidly shifting to well-established, corporate brokerage firms. Brokers in the field are also striving to go beyond simply connecting listings; they're also working hard to develop their own content and build their personal brands. I've shared their concerns and constantly asked myself how I can help them expand their reach.
Why Remax Survived Among So Many Foreign Brands

While numerous global real estate brands have ambitiously entered the Korean market, Remax is currently the only one that has successfully maintained its franchise business. The secret, as I've observed from within, lies not in simple "brand power."
That's right A delicate balance between global philosophy and flexible localization. Thanks to you, Remax adheres to the agent-centric philosophy that applies worldwide, but partially optimizes its system to suit Korea's unique brokerage culture and regulations.
Through overcoming countless trials and errors along the way with franchisees, I became convinced that Remax was a powerful tool in the Korean market.
My rewards and philosophy as a franchisee opening manager
My role isn't simply to stamp a contract. It's to be a "running mate" who accompanies CEOs yearning for change amidst uncertainty, helping them find their footing with the wings of Remax.
Having directly and indirectly experienced the brokerage cultures of Australia, Korea, and countless other countries through Remax, I've come to a single conclusion: "The essence of brokerage is ultimately people, and it's the system that makes those people shine." I find the greatest reward in seeing the franchises I've opened grow into the most trusted group of real estate professionals in their communities.
Conclusion: On the Journey to Create a New Standard

The future of real estate brokerage is no longer about information monopolies in closed spaces. It's about collaboration within an open network, branding expertise, and providing services that meet global standards. That's the vision I envision for the Korean real estate market.
Change is scary, but with the right system in place, it presents new opportunities. Since the first quarter of 2022, over 1,000 brokerage businesses have closed down each month. Many decide to open their own business after obtaining a license, citing the lower initial investment costs compared to other businesses. However, once they open, they face numerous challenges and struggle to operate for six months to a year before quitting.
Meeting with various people has made me realize that if you don't change your operating style and rely on online lectures and online communities, like studying for a certificate in the office, it's incredibly difficult to generate stable revenue. For those who decide to pursue a brokerage business, I want to be your trusted advisor, helping them achieve the most rewarding results.
